Responsible for all aspects of "PowerPath" Pathology Lab Information
System (LIS), including system administration, database administration
and analysis, LAN/WAN support, some network design, and a variety of
programming tasks in a Windows 2000 / MSSQL server environment.
The pathology dept is distributed across three locations, Providence
St. Peter Hospital, Capital Medical Center, and Grays Harbor Community
Hospital. Technically I report to the Lab Manager although I answer
directly to the pathologists and Laboratory Medical Director.
Although this system is on the Providence corporate backbone, it is
not a Providence IS system. This creates a number of support and
development issues with respect to everything from procurement of
hardware and software, to network routing and access to resources.
